Job Title: Residential Support Worker

About the Role

Compass Homes centre around accepting children as they are, in a non-judgmental way. Your role will help children experience childhood, build self-esteem, and create confidence for their journey into adulthood.

You will work within a therapeutic, nurturing environment, supporting children with their daily lives, emotional needs, and development.

Requirements

  • Must be 22 years of age or above (to meet Ofsted regulations).
  • Must be caring, compassionate, and able to build positive relationships with children and colleagues.
  • Must hold a valid manual driving licence.
  • Should have the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.

Previous experience is not essential. Our Skills to Care induction includes:

  • 2 weeks of classroom-based training.
  • 1 week of shadow shifts to prepare for the role.
  • Support in achieving a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, completable within 12 months.

Responsibilities

As a Residential Support Worker, your duties will include:

  • Allowing and facilitating childhood experiences, while fostering self-esteem and acceptance.
  • Supporting children and young people in their health and wellbeing—ensuring they are safeguarded at all times.
  • Handling a variety of ages and needs, including those requiring significant supervision and emotional support.
  • Collaborating with your team on domestic tasks, such as cleaning, cooking, and food shopping.
  • Managing timetables, writing reports, and completing daily paperwork.

  • Starting salary: £26,208, with an additional £50 per sleep-in allocation.
  • Holiday entitlement: 224 hours initially, gradually increasing to 248 hours after 4 years.
