Dwelling Places Children’s Homes

Be part of something new. Help us do residential childcare differently.
Dwelling Places Children’s Homes is a new, values-led children’s home provider based in South East London. We are opening a 3-bedded children’s home in the Lewisham Borough and are looking for passionate, ambitious and committed residential staff who want to grow with us from the beginning.
We are not looking to provide care that sounds good on paper but feels different in practice. We want to build a home where children feel safe, respected, heard and genuinely cared for. We want staff who believe that residential childcare can be relational, consistent, nurturing and life-changing.
Our aim is simple but powerful: to transform the lives of children and young people by improving their futures, relentlessly.
This is an exciting opportunity for experienced Residential Support Workers who want to be part of a growing company with high standards, strong values and a genuine commitment to doing things differently.
About us
Dwelling Places Children’s Homes provides safe, stable and nurturing residential care for children and young people who are unable to live with their families. We create homely environments where children are supported emotionally, socially and practically to develop confidence, resilience, independence and a stronger sense of self.
Our care is child-centred, trauma-informed and tailored to each young person’s individual needs. We work closely with local authorities, schools, families and specialist services to achieve the best possible outcomes for the children in our care.
We are building a team that is energetic, reflective, reliable and ambitious — people who want to be part of a culture where care is not reduced to tasks, and where every interaction with a child matters.
About the role
As a Residential Support Worker, you will provide day-to-day care, guidance, emotional support and structure to children and young people living in the home.
You will support children with daily routines, education, mealtimes, activities, personal care where required, positive behaviour support, independence skills and emotional wellbeing. You will also help to maintain a safe, clean, nurturing and homely environment.
This is a hands-on role that requires warmth, resilience, strong boundaries, emotional intelligence and the ability to remain calm when children are distressed or presenting with challenging behaviour.
You will be expected to build trusting professional relationships with children, while also working closely with colleagues, managers and external professionals to ensure care plans are followed and children receive consistent, high-quality support.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
