Job Description

Join our Resource Planning team and play a vital role in supporting the resourcing of large-scale police operations while managing the day-to-day staffing of Police Officers and Police Staff.

As a Resource Assistant, you will contribute to ensuring Avon and Somerset Police has the right resources in place when and where they are needed to help deliver an outstanding service to our communities. Your responsibilities will include maintaining accurate records, producing reports and documentation, and balancing operational demands with individual needs to ensure optimal staffing levels.

This position is ideal for a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced, challenging environment.

If you’re ready to make a meaningful impact while supporting the critical work of our police force, we’d love to receive an application from you!

Responsibilities

In this role, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Administer shift rotas to ensure minimum staffing levels are maintained, and shift patterns are accurately published and communicated to all relevant individuals and teams
  • Review and manage leave requests, record sickness absences, and support the processing of flexible working agreements, including updating and maintaining records of new shift patterns
  • Monitor and manage email inboxes, promptly escalating any issues to the appropriate line manager
  • Coordinate resource requests from across the force area for both pre-planned and spontaneous events
  • Support internal customers in building shift patterns, ensuring they are compliant with policy and regulations
  • Verify data accuracy across multiple computer systems, addressing any discrepancies appropriately to maintain data integrity

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
