Job Description

About the Role

To provide patient-focused and high-quality clerical support to the Respiratory Diagnostic Department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all clerical staff are multi-skilled and trained to prioritize data quality.
  • Make appointments according to clinical need.
  • Ensure patients needing another appointment are accommodated.
  • Find all notes/referrals needed for clinics, file reports in them, and track notes to the appropriate person for the next appointment.
  • Help make the department run as smoothly as possible.
  • Deal with phone queries regarding all aspects of Respiratory investigations.
  • Type sleep study results letters and send them to external stakeholders.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Appoint diagnostic outpatients from GP and Consultant referrals for appropriate investigations in order of clinical need.
  • Maintain a waiting list of patients waiting for investigations who can’t be appointed straight away.
  • Appoint extra clinics to help bring the waiting times down to an acceptable level.
  • Answer telephone queries and, if necessary, transfer calls to an appropriate member of staff.
  • Undertake other clerical duties as required, appropriate to the grading.
  • Cover reception when needed.
  • Type sleep study results letters and send them to external stakeholders. Upload to timeline.
  • Work within the constraints of the Data Protection Act and attend all mandatory training as required.
  • Attend all in-house training courses as required, enabling the delivery of new service developments/changes.
