Restaurant Section Supervisor – AO Arena

The Role

You’ll supervise, instigate, and perfect service in a fast-paced, high-tempo environment. This isn’t shifts behind a bar—this is leading an entire dining section:

  • Overseeing food and beverage orders, allergens, and special requests.
  • Managing service flow, timings, and delivery to match event schedules.
  • Coordination with kitchen teams and bar staff to ensure seamless delivery.
  • Baby-minding junior servers, coursing trays accurately, and balancing customer needs with event timings.

Not a ‘9 to 5’: This is casual, event-driven work, with flexibility around school/CTDs/work commitments. Shifts typically run in short blocks to fit around AO Arena’s schedule—weekdays, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays (a live events life!).


Key Responsibilities

1. Section Ownership & Leadership

  • Welcome, seat, and oversee guests in your assigned section.
  • Manage order accuracy—ensuring correct beverage pairings, allergens, and modifiers.
  • Align service with event schedules, delivering timely but non-rushed execution.
  • Oversee tray delivery and food presentation from pass to table.

2. Guest Experience

  • Enhance guest experience by taking orders, making recommendations, and anticipating needs.
  • Handle complaints/sticky situations with professionalism and recovery skills.
  • Ensure allergens, dietary requests, and menu personalisation are managed flawlessly.
  • Maintain brand standards and table presentation at all times.

3. Beverage & Order Accuracy

  • Master beverage knowledge: wines by the glass, cocktails, beers, and no/low-alcohol options.
  • Liaise with the bar to secure sign-offs, pairings, and signature checks.
  • Track drinks and comps (scrip freebies for signings/celeb guests).
  • POS system savviness—order entry, modifier tracking, and void graciousness.

4. Standards & Presentation

  • Pre-opening prep: ensure table run (linen, glassware, cutlery) is pristine for every shift.
  • Sidework and multitasking—staying ahead of service with minimal interruption.
  • Zoomier aesthetics: polished tables, correct charging, and drink presentation consistency.
  • Maintain ABC (Always Be Cleaning) principles—neat, efficient service environments.

5. Team & Sales Mentorship

  • Mentor junior servers with proven steps of service (order flow, upselling).
  • Set a professional exemplars—sales drive, pacing, engagement, and team coordination.

6. Accounting & System pérdency

  • Closing out bills and last-call:
    • Balance and match splits.
    • Handle payments, drags (comps), and tipping schemes.
    • Record comps/voids and discounts in the POS.
  • Ensure POS accuracy—avoid discrepancies in tabs.

Minimum Requirements

  • Confident floor experience: Proven track record in high-volume, upscale, or premium fast-casual environments.
  • Remains sharp: Leadership in peak busyness (dem『**dीं demand flexibility yet artistry of fast pacing.
  • POS versatility: Strong with industry software—order entry, modifier handling, check control.
