Job Description
Grant Thornton’s well-established Turnaround and Restructuring Team supports companies and their stakeholders to successfully navigate periods of stress and distress by providing restructuring services that deliver thoughtful, innovative, and pragmatic solutions. As part of an international network, we work alongside colleagues across the globe and have access to expertise across our full-service practice, including colleagues with deep sector experience.
This breadth and depth mean we have the reach and flexibility to support lenders, investors, and management teams with their challenging situations, whether arising from financial and/or operational issues. Our expertise across creditor and company advisory includes turnaround services, restructuring solutions, options assessment and contingency planning, and independent business reviews, alongside delivering formal insolvency appointments and acting as expert witness.
Our clients range from international, listed groups to mid-market OMBs and their stakeholders, across a range of sectors including real estate, construction, healthcare, energy and natural resources, industrials, manufacturing, and automotive and consumer finance.
In recent years, our team has worked on some of the largest and high-profile assignments, including Ambatovy, McDermott, River Island, Buckingham Group, and Royale Resorts, as well as a large number of challenging but rewarding confidential engagements across the UK and beyond.
Whilst working as part of our national team, you will gain exposure to these larger assignments. In the regions, we remain continue to act in Grant Thornton’s core mid-market space, assisting lenders and corporates in navigating the ever-changing commercial and funding landscape.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Day to day, you will be working on assignments ranging from investigations designed to assess a corporate’s financial robustness, through options assessments or contingency planning, and into formal insolvency assignment design to achieve a quick sale of the business and/or maximize the return to creditors from the failure.
We’re happy to discuss flexible working and consider reduced hours and job shares, and we’ll support you to balance your work and life.
