Restructuring Solicitor

Principal Associate – Restructuring & Insolvency (Non-Contentious)

We’re working with a highly regarded national law firm to recruit a Principal Associate into its specialist Restructuring & Insolvency team, part of a broader top-tier Banking & Finance practice.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative, partner-led team operating across Birmingham and London, advising on a wide range of distressed, restructuring and insolvency matters for lenders, corporates, investors, and insolvency practitioners.

You’ll be part of a close-knit, growing team working on a broad mix of non-contentious restructuring and insolvency matters, with regular collaboration across finance, disputes, and pensions teams.

The role offers exposure to complex, high-value distressed situations and the chance to work with a diverse client base, including banks, alternative lenders, corporates, private equity, and insolvency practitioners.

Daily duties:

Advising insolvency practitioners, lenders, and corporates on a range of insolvency and restructuring matters Supporting on administrations, liquidations, pre-pack transactions, and asset disposals Reviewing and advising on security packages and lending arrangements Advising directors on duties in distressed scenarios Assisting with contingency planning and restructuring strategy Supporting on complex exits, including solvent restructurings and dissolutions Drafting and advising on distressed finance documents (e.g. standstill agreements, waivers, reservations of rights) Working on transactions involving sales and acquisitions out of insolvency Collaborating with pensions, disputes, and sector teams on multi-disciplinary matters

About You

Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with experience in restructuring & insolvency Strong background advising lenders, creditors, insolvency practitioners, or corporates Experience across non-contentious insolvency processes (e.g. administrations, liquidations, pre-pack deals) Understanding of security, banking documentation, and distressed finance structures Familiarity with restructuring tools and advisory work Commercially aware with strong technical grounding in insolvency law Confident communicator with the ability to manage client relationships Interest in business development and building a profile in the restructuring market
