Retail Area Support Officer

Mobile Retail Security Officer – Multi-Site Role

Days: Flexible, multi-site role | SIA Licence Required

As a professional, adaptable Mobile Retail Security Officer, you’ll play a vital role in protecting people, property, and stock across multiple supermarket locations. This is a dynamic, fast-paced position where every day presents new challenges.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Deterring crime: Provide a high-visibility security presence to stop theft, anti-social behaviour, and store-related incidents.
  • Patrolling: Conduct regular patrols of shop floors, entrances, and perimeters.
  • CCTV monitoring: Identify suspicious activity in real time via CCTV systems.
  • Incident response: Rapidly and professionally address alarms, emergencies, and security breaches.
  • Searches & procedures: Carry out searches according to company policies and legal guidelines.
  • Collaboration: Work with store managers and law enforcement to manage risks and loss prevention.
  • Reporting: Compile clear, accurate incident reports promptly.
  • Customer service: Offer professional assistance to shoppers while maintaining a welcoming presence.
  • Conflict resolution: De-escalate challenging situations with calm, safe communication.
  • Compliance: Uphold health & safety, legal, and client-specific procedures.
  • Multi-site travel: Support security operations across various stores as needed.

Requirements

To be considered, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Right to Work: Valid UK work authorization and ability to obtain an enhanced DBS check and BS7858 security clearance.
  • SIA Licence: Current Door Supervisor (DS) or Security Guarding licence with relevant experience.
  • Driving: Full UK licence – personal vehicle required*.
  • Experience: Preference given to those with retail security or customer-facing backgrounds.
  • Skills:
    • Sharp observational abilities and quick decision-making.
    • Confidence in handling confrontation and conflict.
    • Strong verbal and written communication.
    • Professionalism, reliability, and proactivity.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work across multiple sites, varying shifts, and unsociable hours (evenings, weekends, bank holidays).
