Retail Assistant
Retail Assistant (Part-Time, 30 Hours Per Week)
We’re looking for a Retail Assistant who will embody the spirit of our business, delivering exceptional customer service for Defence on a part-time basis—contracted to 30 hours per week.
You’ll join a team that takes immense pride in what they do, in their food, and most importantly, in their people.

Your Key Responsibilities
- Serving customers and ensuring they experience an easy, personalised and seamless service
- Being knowledgeable about our offerings and engaging naturally with customers
- Representing Defence with professionalism and upholding a positive brand image
- Handling cash and operating the cash register with accuracy
- Complying with Health & Safety regulations at all times

About Defence & ESS
Part of Compass Group UK & Ireland, ESS specialises in services for the Defence, Government, and Energy sectors. You’ll support over 250 UK military establishments, high-profile police and secure sites, as well as offshore and onshore energy facilities (including drilling rigs, platforms, and floatels).
