About the Role
Majestic Wine Inverness are seeking a dynamic, ambitious and driven Assistant Manager to join our team!
As a Majestic Assistant Manager, your role will focus on supporting your Store Manager while driving sales performance, day-to-day operations, and an exceptional shopping experience—all while maintaining high operational standards and uplifting junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Be an ambassador for your store, consistently delivering an outstanding customer experience to drive loyalty and repeat business
- Support the Store Manager in day-to-day store performance and operations, including handling store coverage in their absence
- Maximise sales opportunities, optimise KPIs, and exceed targets by identifying focus areas and improving performance
- Deliver market-leading service, including a VIP concierge experience, proactive customer updates (tastings, products), and enhancing loyalty
- Sell the wines and story—not just discounts—through extensive product knowledge, tasting events, and a commercially savvy tasting counter
- Support, mentor, and develop junior team members, including helping them progress through WSET qualifications
- Ensure high store standards—both physical and operational—by swiftly reporting and escalating any issues
- Identify and act on continuous improvement opportunities
- Stay fully compliant by adhering to policies, training, and legal requirements
- Cascade and relay store/regional updates effectively

Knowledge & Skills Required
- Proven teamwork in a fast-paced, target-driven retail or hospitality environment
- Track record of exceptional customer service and experience
- Ability to analyse retail KPIs and implement improvements
- Strong prioritisation and problem-solving skills in high-pressure situations
- Highly motivated with self-driven energy, able to work independently or as part of a team
- Can-do attitude with a problem-solving mindset
- Excellent communication, time management, and organisational skills
- Willingness to pursue WSET Levels 2 & 3 qualifications
- Fully licensed UK driver (manual), with 12+ months’ experience and no more than 6 penalty points

Job Specifics
- Contract: Permanent
- Hours: 45 per week
- Flexibility required: Evenings & weekends
- Driving: Must drive one of our company vans. Mandatory to hold a UK manual driver’s licence (12+ months) with ≤ 6 penalty points
