Job Title
Retail Assistant – Part Time Position (Cambridge Street, Spennymoor)
Hours & Pay
- Hours: 12 hours across 3 days per week (minimum requirement).
- Pay:
- Ages 16-20: £10.95 per hour
- Ages 21+: £12.81 per hour
- Work pattern: Varied shifts (including weekends), no set schedule.

Key Responsibilities
- Customer experience:
- Greet customers warmly and make them feel welcome.
- Assist customers in finding items efficiently.
- Checkout and service:
- Operate cash registers and tills with speed and accuracy.
- Help with packing bags and leave a lasting positive impression with friendly service.
- Stock management:
- Handle and correctly store deliveries, including product placement in freezers and shelves.
- Maintenance and teamwork:
- Work collaboratively to keep shops clean, safe, and tidy.
- Complete daily/weekly routines, such as stock rotation and cleaning.
Requirements
Personal Characteristics
- An affable and positive personality, capable of engaging warmly with a variety of customers.
- Enjoys dynamic, busy environments where no two shifts are the same—packing, till duties, customer assistance, delivery handling, and maintenance tasks all may be required on a given day.
- Reliability is critical; you’ll be a key part of a small team, and staff/customer confidence depends on your consistent performance.
- Flexibility to adjust shifts as needed to cover for colleagues on leave (rotas posted **3-week in advance).

Commitment & Availability
- You must be able to commit to min 12 hours across 3 days per week. While conflicts are acknowledged, annual leave scheduling will be considered.
