Retail Assistant – Permanent Part-Time Position
Shop: Southend-on-Sea, Essex Contract: Permanent part-time Hours: 20 hours across 4 days per week
Pay
- Under 21: £10.95 per hour
- 21+: £12.81 per hour

About the Role
We’re looking for a friendly, hardworking Retail Assistant to join our shop in Southend-on-Sea. You’ll work part-time, across a variety of shifts including weekends, serving customers with enthusiasm and professionalism in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
As a Retail Assistant, you’ll be responsible for:

- Greeting customers with a smile and making them feel welcome.
- Assisting customers to find products and provide friendly, efficient service.
- Operating the tills, offering packing assistance, and ensuring checkout transactions are smooth and welcome.
- Handling stock carefully—receiving deliveries, organising freezers, and arranging shelves for easy customer access.
- Collaborating with your team to maintain cleanliness, stock rotation, and store tidiness.
- Adapting quickly between tasks, from customer service to cleaning, stock checks, or stock reorganisation.
Requirements
You should have:
- A friendly, positive attitude and enjoyment in a busy environment.
- Reliability and dependability—you’ll be part of a small team, and everyone will rely on you.
- A flexible approach to shift work, including weekends. Rotas are planned three weeks in advance, with staff commitments always considered.
- Enthusiasm for customer service and teamwork.
