Permanent Retail Assistant (PTRA) – 16 Hours (4 Days per Week)

Location: Annan, Dumfries and Galloway


About the Role

We are recruiting for a permanent part-time retail assistant to join our team in Annan. This role requires a friendly, customer-focused approach and the ability to work flexible shifts, including weekday evenings, Saturday, and Sunday.


Pay & Benefits

  • Pay rate: £10.95–£12.81 per hour (dependent on age)

    • Ages 16–20: £10.95/hour
    • Ages 21+: £12.81/hour

Key Responsibilities

As a retail assistant, your role involves:

  • Customer service: Greeting customers warmly and assisting them with purchases.
  • Retail operations:
    • Fast, friendly service at tills, including packing and checkout.
    • Stock handling—receiving, tidying, and rotating shelf stock.
    • Managing deliveries, including organised placement of freezer/non-freezer products.
  • Shop maintenance: Supporting daily routines to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you’ll need to demonstrate:

  • A friendly, enthusiastic, and teamwork-oriented attitude—you’ll encounter a busy, varied workload with high customer interaction.
  • Reliability and commitment—you’re a critical part of the team and will be relied on to fulfil your shifts.
  • Flexibility: Availability for shifts from 7 am to weekend coverage, rotas planned 3 weeks in advance (committing to availability while balancing outside commitments).
