Retail Banking Lawyer
Retail Banking Lawyers
We are currently seeking Retail Banking Lawyers to support Axiom clients on a range of consumer finance, consumer credit, and retail banking matters, with a particular focus on regulated lending, consumer banking products, CCA 1974, FCA regulation, Consumer Duty, and customer-facing financial services.
Responsibilities
- Provide practical, commercially focused legal advice on retail banking, consumer finance, and consumer credit matters, including personal loans, credit cards, mortgages, overdrafts, BNPL, point-of-sale finance, and other regulated lending products.
- Advise on UK consumer finance and retail banking regulation, including the Consumer Credit Act 1974, FCA Handbook, Consumer Duty, financial promotions, customer communications, conduct risk, affordability, vulnerable customers, and complaints handling.
- Draft, review, and advise on consumer finance documentation, including regulated credit agreements, loan documentation, customer terms and conditions, product terms, notices, disclosures, policies, procedures, and customer-facing materials.
- Partner with legal, compliance, product, risk, operations, customer, commercial, and regulatory teams to support product development, product launches, regulatory change, remediation projects, governance frameworks, and risk mitigation.
Minimum Qualifications
- Qualified lawyer eligible to practise in the UK, or equivalent overseas qualification with strong consumer finance, consumer credit, retail banking, consumer banking, or financial services regulatory experience.
- Experience advising on the Consumer Credit Act 1974, FCA regulatory requirements, Consumer Duty, regulated lending, retail financial products, customer terms, financial promotions, conduct risk, or consumer protection matters.
- Experience supporting retail banks, credit card issuers, mortgage lenders, consumer finance providers, fintechs, BNPL providers, payment businesses, or other regulated financial services organisations.
- Strong drafting, advisory, stakeholder management, regulatory analysis, and commercial judgment skills, with the ability to deliver pragmatic, business-focused legal advice in regulated consumer-facing environments.
