Retail Capital Projects and Value Manager
Location: Northampton
Join the Corporate Real Estate Services (CRES) Retail team and play a key role in delivering capital projects while driving value across the retail estate.
About the Role
You will be responsible for ensuring capital projects are delivered to the highest standards, maximising value through effective supply chain management and commercial performance.
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of retail capital projects, covering both pre-construction and delivery phases
- Work closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery that meets quality and safety standards
- Act as the central interface across business units, aligning Technology, Finance, and Procurement delivery with strategic objectives
This role combines project delivery, commercial oversight, and stakeholder management, requiring the ability to:
- Manage complex programmes
- Drive supplier performance
- Ensure robust governance, risk management, and reporting across projects
Key Responsibilities
Management and Delivery
- Execute capital project proposals and operations aligned with bank objectives
- Oversee planning, design, procurement, construction, and facility upgrades, including:
- Workspace optimisation
- Engineering projects
- Physical asset security enhancements
Financial and Risk Oversight
- Track and manage project budgets, forecasting costs and identifying savings opportunities
- Develop risk management strategies to mitigate risks associated with capital projects
- Monitor regulatory compliance and policy adherence

Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with sponsors, vendors, regulatory agencies, and facilities management
- Align all activities with the strategic goals of the organisation

- Identify opportunities to improve project delivery through process efficiencies, automation, or AI
- Implement best practices to enhance project performance
Strategic Accountabilities

- Strategic Contribution: Influence requirements, recommend improvements, and set direction
- Process Definition: Establish policies, allocate resources, and define a departmental roadmap
- Team Leadership (if applicable): Define roles, guide performance, and mentor professionals
- Strategic Collaboration: Support senior stakeholders, mitigate risks, and ensure alignment with business goals
- Decision-Making: Drive sophisticated analytical solutions and research-led problem-solving
- Relationship Building: Foster trust with internal/external partners to achieve objectives
Key Skills and Requirements
Essential
- Strong stakeholder management with the ability to influence and align multiple internal/external teams
- Excellent organisation and communication skills, capable of leading complex, multi-priority deliverables
- Commercial acumen with experience in supplier performance, contract negotiations, and ease in driving value optimisation
- Proven track record of managing multi-site or complex capital programmes, meeting time/cost/quality/safety benchmarks
- Technical proficiency in leveraging AI, automation, and process efficiencies
- Ability to innovate, streamline timelines, and achieve cost savings
