Retail Consultant - UK

Retail Consultant (Full-time, salaried) – Focal Systems

Type, Sector & Location

  • Role: Full-time, salaried employment

  • Posting: Remote in the UK, with 50%–75% travel to customer sites (predominantly UK, + opportunities for international projects)

Salary & Benefits

  • Base Salary: £50,000–£65,000
  • Additional Earnings: On-target bonuses + stock options

About the Role

We’re looking for a results-driven Retail Consultant to join our Retail Consulting Organisation, ensuring our retail partners receive unbeatable day-to-day support and maximise the ROI on their Focal technology partnership.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Onboarding new and existing retail clients
  • Adopting best practices
  • Driving customer success and satisfaction
  • Acting as both strategic advisor and bridge between retailers and our Focal team

Core Responsibilities

Maximising Customer Utilisation

  • Design and execute exceptional onboarding experiences for Focal customers
  • Analyse their operational processes and adoption roadblocks, removing barriers to success
  • Ensure customers fully embrace and leverage the potential of our technology

Increasing Customer Satisfaction

  • Act as customer champion, proactively addressing challenges and priorities to influence Focal’s product roadmap
  • Travel to Focal-enabled stores, engaging withsite teams to strengthen long-term adoption
  • Facilitate collaboration across Focal’s teams to deliver optimal outcomes for retailers

Demonstrating Measurable ROI

  • Advise customers on best practices, goal alignment, and implementation strategies
  • Monitor and analyse store performance, providing data-driven recommendations to drive tangible, measurable growth
  • Contribute to quantifying the benefits of Focal solutions for each client

What You Need to Succeed

Experience & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Preferred Experience:
    • Mid/senior roles in retail (grocery preferred)
    • Direct involvement in digital transformation or process improvement
    • OR 5+ years in retail tech, including positions like customer success, account management, consulting, project management, change management, onboarding, or training

  • Strategic Mindset: Proven research and problem-solving skills, paired with a high intellectual curiosity
  • Startup Energy: Adaptable, proactive, and motivated to thrive in a dynamic, high-paced environment—managing multiple priorities independently or as part of a team

  • Willingness to travel regularly to customer sites
  • Availability for international projects as needed
  • Work proficiency in other European languages (a major plus)
