Retail Deputy Manager

Retail Deputy Manager (18-Hour Contract)

Why The Works?

We don’t just sell products—we inspire reading, learning, creativity, and play.

You sell the paint that turns someone into an artist. You provide the book that unleashes an inner author. You supply the games that bring families together. You give someone the puzzle book that reconnects them with a late family member’s memory.

You never know who someone will become. With your passion and The Works’ products, you’ll help ignite the spark within people—allowing them to unleash their creativity, find new passions, or rekindle fond memories. The unseen possibilities are limitless. And it all starts with YOU.

About the Role

As a Retail Deputy Manager, you’ll play a vital role in:

  • Supporting the Store Manager in leading the team and delivering an exceptional customer experience.
  • Driving commercial performance, maintaining high operational standards, and stepping up to lead the store when needed.
  • Acting as a role model for the team, motivating, coaching, and ensuring smooth daily operations.

Your mission is to:

  • Provide exceptional service—spark brilliant conversations and assist customers with their shopping missions.
  • Make product recommendations that surprise, delight, and inspire.

✅ Smiles that put customers at ease ✅ Warm welcomes into the store ✅ Supportive teamwork with colleagues ✅ Encouraging creativity or reconnecting with family treasures

Whether on the shop floor, in distribution, or at our support centre, you’ll represent our values and behaviours authentically. You help build trust, awareness, and loyalty—simply by how you show up.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
