Deputy Manager Opportunity

About the Role

As a Deputy Manager, you’ll be a key leader in supporting the Store Manager while filling in for them when needed. Your mission? Deliver exemplary customer service, boost commercial performance, and ensure smooth daily operations.

You’ll:

  • Set the standard for service, presentation, and teamwork
  • Mentor your team and foster inclusion
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well-stocked store
  • Represent The Works with pride — embodying our values through every action

Most importantly, you’re a Brand Ambassador. Your interactions — from welcoming a new customer to encouraging someone to rediscover their love of reading — turn ordinary moments into lifetime memories.


Your Mission

To excel in this role, you’ll:

  • Lead the team to deliver stellar customer service and meet store targets
  • Take ownership of stock management, merchandising, and compliance
  • Train and coach team members, building their skills and confidence
  • Manage the store when the Store Manager is unavailable
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of new hires
  • Monitor performance and propose sales and efficiency improvements
  • Uphold health & safety, cash handling, and loss prevention guidelines
  • Cultivate a positive, inclusive team culture
