I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Harpurhay has been under sole partnership since opening and now for the first time we are looking for both a Retail and Optometry Partner to join this business. The business is in an outdoor shopping centre, with free parking close by and well serviced by regular bus routes in and out of the city centre. A recent refit took place late 2024 so the store looks great with no new works required. The current partner has worked hard to develop and create a ‘Grow your own’ culture and its important the new partners have the same mindset in order to continue with the development of the existing team, as well as supporting and cultivating a strong network for the future whilst ensuring the established customer base are provided with the first class service they have grown to know and return too.
