Role Overview

Our Retail Sales Advisors are at the heart of our business, acting as our biggest brand ambassadors. Acting as the first point of contact for customers visiting our network of showrooms, they are both inspired and empowered to support customers in growing their homes by assisting them in choosing the perfect pieces of furniture and accessories from our broad range of products. With a commercially minded and consultative sales approach, they use their expert knowledge to deliver an exceptional experience tailored to each customer.

About The Role

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide customers with an exceptional customer experience, sharing your expert knowledge of Oak Furnitureland’s extensive product ranges and services.
  • Follow the Retail Sales Model to make tailored recommendations based on customer needs and guiding purchasing decisions.
  • Contribute to improving Oak Furnitureland’s customer satisfaction scores (including Net Promoter Score and TrustPilot ratings), fostering loyalty, positive brand perception, and generating new sales opportunities.
  • Consistently achieve personal sales KPIs, performance targets, and support overall showroom performance.
  • Adopt a one-team approach by collaborating with the Store Manager and Assistant Manager to foster an inclusive team culture, aligned with our values and expected behaviours.
  • Work closely with Visual Merchandising and Facilities & Maintenance teams to maintain a compliant, safe, and inviting environment that showcases our products and services at the highest standards.
  • Positively engage with Partnering 4 Performance to set personal objectives and development plans that support individual and business growth.
  • Adhere strictly to Oak Furnitude’s processes, policies, and procedures while staying updated on internal and external factors impacting trade and customer experience.
  • Utilise training materials and business updates to maintain current knowledge of products, services, and industry trends—driving sales performance.
  • Ensure compliant, efficient, and correct processing of all customer information using Oak Furnitude systems.
  • Encourage and deliver a seamless omnichannel customer journey by leveraging digital resources and marketing tools for informed purchasing decisions.

Skills And Experience

  • Extensive customer-facing experience demonstrating proficiency in retail sales, consultative selling—ideally in furniture or similar industries.
  • In-depth knowledge and application of sales models and processes to meet targets effectively.
  • Strong questioning, listening, and persuasive communication skills, with a knack for influencing relationships.
  • Proven track record in working within high-performing teams towards achieving individual and team goals.
  • Understanding of how customer experience directly impacts key metrics such as NPS, TrustPilot ratings, repeat business, and new sales opportunities.
  • Industry awareness of furniture and home accessory products, Oak Furnitureland’s Unique Selling Points (USPs), and competitor differentiators.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks relevant to retail sales, including compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of customer purchasing motivations and external/internal trade influences.

Note: This position offers uncapped commission rates up to 4% on all sales, contributing toward showroom targets.


Working Hours

This role is full-time (40 hours per week), operating 5 days out of 7, with one weekend off every six weeks.

Preferred experience: Roles equivalent to Sales Associate, Sales Consultant, Retail Associate, Sales Professional, Sales Executive.
