About the Role
As a Retail Sales Assistant, you’re the face of The Works on the shop floor—a true brand ambassador. Every day, you create moments that make customers smile. They love visiting our stores, and you’re a big part of why.
Your mission:
- Deliver exceptional service, spark brilliant conversations, and help customers with their shopping missions (whether discovering new products or finding the perfect gifts).
- Recommend products that surprise, delight, and inspire based on their interests or needs.
- Help keep the store well-stocked, tidy, safe, and welcoming.
- Work with your team to create an environment where everything runs smoothly—ensuring everyone feels supported and included.

Your Mission (Key Responsibilities)
✅ Deliver friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient service to every customer. ✅ Maintain excellent store standards (merchandising, cleanliness, stock replenishment). ✅ Operate tills accurately and handle transactions with care. ✅ Support with deliveries, stockroom organisation, and product availability. ✅ Follow operational procedures (health & safety, loss prevention). ✅ As a Keyholder, open/close the store securely, support cash handling, and manage store security.
✅ Work collaboratively with your team to meet store targets and KPIs. ✅ Stay informed about promotions, products, and services to help customers make informed choices. ✅ Be a brand ambassador—positive, professional, and passionate about our mission.
💡 Note: This role can be physically demanding—working with stairs, lifting heavy stock. A supportive team ensures you’re never alone!

Skills & Behaviours That Will Set You Apart
- Passion for delivering great customer service 🎯

- Comfortable using tills and handling cash
- Previous experience in customer service or hospitality
- Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment ⚡
- For Keyholders: Experience with store opening/closing & basic supervisory responsibilities
Keyholder Responsibilities (For Those Aged 18+)
If you’re over 18, with training and support, you can become a Keyholder, taking on extra responsibility and building valuable career experience.
- When a manager isn’t in store, you’ll be trusted to: • Open and close the store securely • Cash up • Perform management responsibilities
As a Keyholder, you’ll earn an enhanced rate of pay—plus, this role offers insight into store management, helping you grow your confidence and progress in your career.
