Role Overview
As a Retail Sales Assistant (with Keyholder benefits if eligible), you’re the heart of The Works brand. Your role shapes every shopper’s experience—turning everyday visits into extraordinary moments.
- Your mission: Deliver flawless service, spark joyful discoveries, and revive forgotten passions.
- Anticipate customer needs by recommending products, refining merchandise presentations, and keeping restocking & cleanliness impeccable.

Responsibilities
Store Team Core Duties
- Customer Care: Offer kind, knowledgeable, and efficient assistance—whether it’s a quick check-out, product demo, or guidance for last-minute gifts.
- Guest Experience: Help customers find what captivates them (e.g., book that sparks writing, game that builds family bonds).
- Store Management:
- Maintain visual displays that inspire through attention to neatness, stock levels, and promotional displays.
- Ensure accurate cash handling, till operations, and analytical reporting.
- Okay Environment: Collaborate flexibly with colleagues to ensure smooth transactions, deliveries, and stockroom organisation.
- Store Execution: Assist Joe &ოპ with turnover forecasts, promotion training, and in-store events.
Keyholder Responsibilities (for applicants 18+)
With simple yet crucial additions to responsibilities, Keyholders gain:
- Store Leadership Lift: Take on management duties (with Manager absent)—including: • Store opening/closing protocols • Cash handling & end-of-day reconciliation • Security & cash overflow oversight
- Interim Manager Duties: Every task is a stepping stone—whether adjusting holiday requests or reconciling stock.
- Enhanced Growth Path: Keyholder status provides expanded pay (to reflect increased responsibility), mentoring opportunities, and insight into roles like Store Manager or Deputy Manager.
The Can-Do Mindset
The role demands:
- alla hanging recreational and technical ability to manoeuvre heavy stock or by stairs.
- Open-eyed clairvoyance for shifts/schedule changes (flexibility is a must!).
- Assimilation grit to deliver 100% customer excellence consistently.
Skills & Attitude Wins
✔ Kindness: Patient, helpful, focused interactions—treat every customer (even brittle customers) with respect and resilience. ✔ Resourceful: Evidence of proactivity in problem-solving (e.g. unsure, redirecting lost customers). ✔ Curiosity: Eager to dive deep into product ranges and trends—willing to upskill in areas beyond your experience. ✔ Communication: Ability to navigate over 20,000 product variants and highlight them clearly. ✔ Size matters? - Experience valleligent apportioning (e.g., 100+ transactions/hour, inventory acumen, promotion swifness).
