The Role

As a Sales Assistant, you’ll support your store team in:

  • Driving sales performance
  • Ensuring smooth day-to-day store operations
  • Delivering exceptional customer experiences

This is a hands-on role where every task—from assisting customers to managing stock—contributes to store success.


Key Responsibilities

Customer Experience & Sales

  • Be a shopping ambassador for your store, ensuring every customer has an outstanding experience.
  • Maximise sales opportunities by hitting KPI targets and exceeding performance benchmarks.
  • Offer a VIP concierge service—actively engaging customers with:
    • Product updates
    • Tastings
    • Personalised recommendations
  • Sell the story, not the discount—passionate, knowledge-driven sales that build loyalty & repeat purchases.

Wine Knowledge & Development

  • Deep dive into our product range—take ownership of your WSET qualification (Level 2 minimum).
  • Continuously expand your expertise to deliver confident, informed service.
  • Use your passion for wine to educate & engage customers.

Store Operations & Maintenance

  • Maintain physical and external store standards—presentation matters!
  • Handle operational tasks:
    • Delivering wine to customers
    • Mergising stock deliveries
    • Calling valued customers for sales opportunities
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities to enhance store efficiency.
  • Ensure full compliance with internal policies, processes, and training.

Leadership & Team Support

  • Be a positive role model for junior team members—support their development.
  • As a key-holder, you’ll manage:
    • Store opening & closing compliance
    • Running the store independently when needed

Bonus: 🔹 Wine knowledge is helpful, but passion for learning is essential 🔹 Progression Level 2 WSET qualification is encouraged

Legal Requirements

⚠️ Full UK manual driving licence, held for at least 12 months ⚠️ No more than 6 penalty points ⚠️ Must be willing to drive company vans (key part of the role)

Job Specifics

📅 Contract: Permanent ⏰ Hours: 16 hours per week 🚗 Flexibility:

  • Must work evenings & weekends
  • Must be willing to work across Cardiff & Cardiff Bay branches 💶 Salary: £10,574.72 (per annum)
