Retail Security Officer

Retail Security Officer – Glasgow (OCS UK & Ireland)

About the Role

Location & Hours: This part-time position is based at Tesco Express, Glasgow, with a 44.5-hour weekly commitment (Monday – Friday, 14:00–24:00).

Purpose: As a Retail Security Officer, you will safeguard customers, staff, and store assets while fostering a secure, positive shopping experience. Your role involves.Visible deterrence against theft, anti-social behaviour, and proactive incident management.


Key Responsibilities

To excel in this position, you will:

  • Maintain a visible security presence, deterring theft, loss prevention, and disruptive behaviour.
  • Patrol the store and monitor CCTV to identify suspicious activities or breaches.
  • Respond promptly to alarms/incidents, escalating incidents as necessary.
  • Conduct required searches in compliance with company protocols when justified.
  • Record accurate incident reports and observations for documentation.
  • Collaborate with store management to address security matters.
  • Provide a professional, approachable demeanour to enhance customer and staff confidence.
  • Resolve escalations diplomatically, de-escalating conflicts to ensure store harmony.
  • Adhere to all company policies, site procedures, and legal obligations.
  • Support team initiatives and perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

Essential Criteria:

✔ Right to Work in the UK with eligibility for DBS and BS7858 security clearance. ✔ **Valid SIA Licence (Door Supervisor or Security Guarding) with relevant security experience. ✔ Sharp observational skills, keen to detect unusual or unsafe behaviours. ✔ Confidence in handling difficult situations with calm, professional resolve. ✔ Excellent verbal/written communication for reporting and customer interactions. ✔ Proactive and adaptable approach, able to work varied shifts (including weekend evenings).
