Retail Security Officer
Retail Security Officer – Holbrook Morrisons (OCS UK & Ireland)
About the Role
Days of working: This position is based at Holbrook Morrisons, operating:
- Wednesday to Saturday: 15:30 – 22:00
- Sunday: 09:30 – 16:00
- Optional overtime available on Monday or Tuesday when required.
As a Retail Security Officer, you’ll safeguard customers, staff, and stock, ensuring a safe and secure shopping environment. Your presence will act as a visible deterrent to criminal activity while maintaining excellent customer service and handling incidents effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Security & Incident Management
- Maintain a visible security presence to prevent theft and anti-social behaviour
- Patrol the store, monitor CCTV for suspicious activity
- Respond to alarms and incidents, escalating as needed
- Conduct searches in line with company procedures
- Complete accurate incident and observation reports
Customer Service
- Present a professional and approachable customer-facing role
- Assist customers/staff with queries and support
- De-escalate challenging situations calmly and efficiently

Compliance & Additional Support
- Follow all site procedures, company policies, and legal requirements
- Collaborate with store management and team on security matters
- Undertake additional on-call duties as required
Requirements
Essential Criteria
- Must have the Right to Work in the UK and be eligible for:
- DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) check
- BS7858 security clearance
- Valid SIA (Security Industry Authority) licence (either Door Supervisor (DS) or Security Guarding)
- Relevant security experience is a must
- Strong observational skills to detect suspicious behaviour
- Proven ability to handle difficult situations with calm professionalism
- Excellent verbal and written communication for reports and customer interactions
- Proactive approach to maintaining safety and security
- Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and varied shifts
