Retail Security Officer
Retail Security Officer - Tesco Extra, Kilmarnock
About The Role
Working Pattern: This position is based at Tesco Extra, Kilmarnock, operating a 5 over 7 rota.
As a Retail Security Officer, you will safeguard our customers, staff, and assets, while fostering a secure shopping environment. Your presence helps deter crime and ensures both safety and excellent service.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a high-visibility security presence to deter theft and anti-social behaviour
- Patrol the store and monitor CCTV for suspicious activity
- Act promptly on alarms and incidents, escalating when required
- Conduct searches where necessary, adhering to company procedures
- Complete accurate incident and observation reports
- Collaborate closely with store management and staff on security initiatives
- Cultivate a professional, approachable image
- Assist customers and staff with queries or concerns
- De-escalate challenging situations with a calm approach
- Follow all site procedures, company policies and legal requirements
- Support the wider team and undertake additional duties as needed
Requirements
- Must have the Right to Work in the UK, with the ability to undergo DBS and BS7858 security clearance
- Valid SIA Licence (Door Supervisor (DS) or Security Guarding)
- Must possess relevant security experience
- Strong observational skills to identify potential threats or suspicious behaviour
- Ability to handle difficult situations professionally and calmly
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for reporting and interactions
- Proactive, professional attitude towards safety and security
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and evenings
