Retail Security Officer

Retail Security Officer – Lanark Morrisons (4x4 Shift Pattern)

About the Role

Location: Lanark, Morrisons Shift Pattern: 4 days on, 4 days off

As a Retail Security Officer, you will safeguard customers, staff, and stock while creating a secure and welcoming shopping environment. Your actions will deter criminal activity and ensure a professional, proactive response to incidents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a visible security presence to prevent theft and anti-social behaviour
  • Patrol the store and closely monitor CCTV for suspicious activity
  • Respond to alarms and incidents, escalating as necessary
  • Conduct searches in line with company procedures when required
  • Prepare accurate incident and observation reports
  • Collaborate closely with store management and staff on security matters
  • Provide a professional, approachable presence for customers and colleagues
  • Assist customers and staff with queries and enquiries
  • De-escalate challenging situations calmly and effectively
  • Adhere to all site procedures, company policies and legal requirements
  • Assist the wider security team and undertake additional duties as needed

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Right to Work in the UK + the ability to undergo:
    • DBS check
    • BS7858 security clearance
  • A valid SIA Licence (either Door Supervisor (DS) or Security Guarding)
  • Prior security-related experience is essential
  • Strong observational skills to detect and respond to suspicious behaviour
  • The ability to handle difficult or confrontational situations with professionalism
  • Excellent verbal and written communication for reporting and customer interaction
  • A proactive, security-conscious mindset
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends
