Retail Support Security Officer – Tesco Top Valley

Location: Tesco Top Valley, Nottingham

Pay Rate: £13.47 per hour

Hours: Average 35 hours per week

Working Pattern: Monday to Sunday, including weekends and bank holidays

Shift Times: Early and late shifts required – start times from 06:00 and finish times up to 00:00

Requirement: Valid SIA Licence and own transport essential

About The Role

Kingdom Group is seeking a professional, flexible, and reliable Retail Support Security Officer to join our team supporting Tesco Top Valley and surrounding locations across Nottingham.

This is a relief position providing cover for holidays, sickness, and additional operational requirements across multiple Tesco stores. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for customers, colleagues, and visitors while delivering excellent customer service and supporting store operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a professional, highly visible security presence within store locations.
  • Monitor and patrol premises regularly.
  • Prevent theft, damage, trespassing, and anti-social behaviour.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, emergencies, and security concerns.
  • Conduct internal and external patrols.
  • Monitor CCTV systems and report suspicious activity.
  • Control access to buildings and restricted areas where required.
  • Carry out opening and closing procedures.
  • Check fire exits, safety equipment, and security systems.
  • Complete accurate incident and occurrence reports.
  • Report maintenance issues and safety hazards.
  • Work closely with store teams to support operational requirements.
  • Deliver excellent customer service to customers, colleagues, and visitors.
  • Manage conflict situations professionally and calmly.
  • Liaise with emergency services when required.

Patrol Duties

  • Internal and external patrols.
  • Locking and unlocking doors and gates.
  • Checking vulnerable and high-risk areas.
  • Monitoring vehicles, deliveries, and service entrances.
  • Maintaining site security during out-of-hours periods.

Customer Service Responsibilities

  • Greeting visitors and customers professionally.
  • Assisting customers and store colleagues.
  • Providing directions and information when required.
  • Handling complaints calmly and professionally.
  • Maintaining a professional appearance and attitude at all times.

Emergency Responsibilities

  • Assisting with emergency evacuations.
  • Supporting first aid incidents if trained.
  • Preserving crime scenes where necessary.
  • Reporting incidents immediately to management.
  • Completing emergency documentation and reports.

Relief Cover & Flexibility Requirements

This role involves providing relief cover across multiple store locations including:

  • Tesco Hucknall – NG15 7UQ
  • Tesco Bulwell – NG6 8EQ
  • Tesco Hucknall Road – NG5 1QZ
  • Various Tesco stores across Nottingham City Centre

The successful candidate must be able to travel and work within a 10–15 mile radius of the locations listed above.

Full Flexibility Is Essential, Including

  • Early shifts starting from 06:00
  • Late shifts finishing up to 00:00
  • Weekend working
  • Bank holiday working
  • Short-notice cover requirements

Please note that this is a relief position. While the role is expected to average 35 hours per week, full-time hours cannot be guaranteed initially. However, there is potential for hours to increase over time, with opportunities to progress into a permanent full-time role subject to business needs.

  • Valid SIA Licence (Door Supervision or Security Guarding).
  • Own transport is essential.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong observation and attention to detail.
  • Professional, confident, and reliable approach.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Strong conflict management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Previous retail security experience is desirable but not essential.
