Retail Security Officer
Location: ASDA - Tunbridge Wells Weekly Hours: 24 hours Pay Rate: £12.71 per hour
About the Role
Our vision is to create better places through thriving communities. As a Retail Security Officer, you will protect our customers’ property, people, and assets by providing security services in line with the site’s published Assignment Instructions (AI’s) and any updates.
Your efforts will ensure service levels meet or exceed Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and Service Level Agreements (SLA’s), helping to retain our contracts. You will also prioritise ongoing training and self-development.
Main Duties
Operations
- Ensure strict compliance with all policies, legislative, and regulatory requirements as directed by the Security Account Manager (while adhering to UK Law).
- Fully execute all site-specific tasks and duties outlined in the Assignment Instructions (AI’s).
- Proactively review the AI’s to identify changes that could improve or enhance service quality.
- Hold a valid front-line SIA licence (either Security Guarding or Door Supervision) to be worn at all times while on duty.
- Contractually required licences: Must hold a CCTV PSS SIA Licence.
- Additional training may be necessary and must be completed on schedule.

Training & Development
- Complete mandatory competency training as required.
- Understand and use technology effectively to meet objectives.
- Ensure licences are renewed 16 weeks before expiry.
Security & Health & Safety
- Promptly identify and report Health & Safety hazards or potential risks on-site.
- Stay vigilant for threats or disruptions, taking immediate action to mitigate risk.
- Demonstrate common sense and initiative—if a situation escalates, engage others appropriately.
- Maintain professionalism during challenging interactions or incidents.
- Document accurate incident reports promptly, following the Incident Reporting Process.
- Ensure check calls and emergency responses align with AI schedules.
Requirements & Qualifications
✅ Previous Security Experience (desirable) ✅ Valid SIA Licence (required) ✅ SC Clearance (desirable) ✅ Compliance with UK legislation, including statutory licenses (CCTV, Door/Security Guarding). ✅ Ability to follow procedures and work systematically under pressure.
