About Company Shop Group
Company Shop Group is the largest commercial redistributor of surplus food and household products in the UK, enabling some of the biggest retailers, manufacturers, food service and logistics providers to unlock value from surplus stock, which may have otherwise gone to waste.

About The Role: Shift Lead
We consistently deliver great member service by truly putting our members at the heart of what we do, focusing on maintaining store standards.
The Shift Lead is responsible for ensuring the effective day-to-day running of the store are met during shifts:
- Leading colleagues to deliver strong operational performance
- Maintaining high standards
- Ensuring a positive member experience
The role is centred around execution, shift leadership, and facilitating the delivery of store plans.
Core Responsibilities
Leadership & People
- Lead colleagues effectively on shift, setting clear expectations and role-modelling Company Shop Group behaviours.
- Coach and support colleagues in the moment to meet standards and performance goals.
- Support absence management and people processes according to company procedures.
- Escalate people-related or performance issues appropriately to the Assistant Store Manager or Store Manager.
Operational Delivery
- Take full responsibility for store performance during allocated shifts, including opening and closing.
- Ensure the store is fully prepared for trading and operates efficiently throughout the day.
- Deliver daily retail activities:
- Replenishment
- Managing deliveries
- Waste and markdown supervision
- Cash office processes
- Hygiene and housekeeping oversight
- Maintain high operational standards across all store areas.

Member Experience
- Deliver a consistently high level of customer service to all members.
- Resolve member queries and issues effectively, escalating where required.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all Company Shop Group policies, food safety, and health & safety standards are followed on shift.
- Promote safe working practices and encourage reporting of near misses, observations, and accidents.
Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with other Shift Leads to ensure shift and operational coverage.
- Support the Assistant Store Manager and Store Manager in achieving store objectives.
Requirements
- Sound knowledge of day-to-day retail operations and ability to maintain high store standards during trading and non-trading hours.
- Understanding of key commercial KPIs and ability to support delivery of performance targets on shift.
- Demonstrated ability to lead andmotivate colleagues in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Clear and confident communicator, skilled at coaching colleagues and providing constructive feedback in the moment.
- Commercial awareness, with the ability to identify issues, improvement opportunities, and escalate appropriately.
- Strong member focus, committed to delivering a positive and consistent member experience.
- Highly organised and adaptable, excelling at prioritisation and response to changing operational demands.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or team leader role within a retail environment.
- Experience in opening and closing stores and overseeing daily operational activities.
- Experience with cash handling, refund processing, and company policy compliance.
- Food Safety Level 1 qualification, or willingness to obtain it as part of the role.

Job Details
Location: Company Shop, 1-2 Pattinson Rd, Washington, NE38 8QA
Annual Salary: £28,500 (full-time equivalent). Pro-rata for 20 hours per week: £14,250 per annum.
Shifts/Hours: 20 hours per week (Monday to Sunday), 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Some flexibility required.
