Retail Store Assistant – Dorking Shop (Fixed-Term Contract)

£12.71 per hour plus benefits

Cancer Research UK is looking for a motivated Store Assistant to join our trading team as an ambassador for our cause.

In this role, you’ll help support ambitious sales and fundraising targets, enhance our shop’s visibility while maintaining high standards, and actively engage with your local community.

You’ll be part of a passionate team committed to beating cancer—where every interaction makes an impact.


Key Responsibilities

As a Retail Store Assistant, you will:

  • Deliver excellent customer and supporter service, ensuring every visitor feels valued.
  • Contribute to sales performance and fundraising targets as part of a collaborative shop team.
  • Help maintain shop standards, including:
    • Visual merchandising and presentation
    • Safeguarding compliance
    • Health and safety standards
  • Build relationships with local community members and colleagues across Cancer Research UK.
  • Support fundraising event teams to target objectives.
  • Take on keyholder responsibilities as required (training provided).
  • Engage in manual handling tasks and physical activity as part of daily operations.

What You’ll Need

To succeed in this role, we’re looking for:

  • A deep understanding of great customer service and a commitment to delivering exceptional experiences.
  • Experience in busy retail or customer-facing environments.
  • The ability to manage workload independently while aligning with team goals.
  • Strong communication skills both with customers and colleagues.
  • Flexibility to adapt to store requirements (rotain basis) without over-committing to personal responsibilities.
