Retail Store Detective – LIDL
Location: Avonmouth Region (supporting multiple LIDL stores)
Pay Rate: £15.50 per hour
Hours: Full-time / Flexible – Rota varies to meet operational requirements
Join the Mitie Retail Security Team
We are looking for a professional, proactive, and highly motivated Retail Store Detective to join our LIDL contract covering the Avonmouth region. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced security professional who enjoys working in a dynamic retail environment, helping to reduce loss, protect colleagues and customers, and support stores through effective loss prevention.
As a Store Detective, you will work across multiple locations, providing a discreet security presence while identifying and preventing theft, gathering evidence, and supporting stores with investigations and incident management.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct covert and overt loss prevention activities.
- Detect, deter, and prevent theft, fraud, and dishonest activity.
- Identify repeat offenders and organised retail crime where appropriate.
- Produce accurate, detailed, and timely incident reports.
- Complete high-quality evidence gathering to support investigations.
- Carry out lawful apprehensions where appropriate and in line with company policy.
- Maximise stock recovery and ensure all recoveries are accurately recorded.
- Liaise professionally with store management and local police when required.
- Maintain excellent communication with the Operations Management team.
- Deliver outstanding customer service while maintaining a security-focused approach.
- Ensure all incidents are recorded using the company's reporting systems and completed to a high standard.
What We're Looking For
- A valid SIA Door Supervisor or Security Guard licence.
- Previous retail security or store detective experience is desirable.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written communication and report-writing ability.
- Confidence in dealing with challenging situations professionally and calmly.
- A flexible approach to working hours and store locations.

Essential Requirements
- Access to a reliable vehicle is essential, as the role involves travelling between stores throughout the Avonmouth region.
- Mileage reimbursement is provided for authorised business travel.
- Flexibility to work an evolving rota in line with client requirements and operational demands.
