We don’t just sell products. The Works—it means everything.

More than just toys, books, or art supplies, we inspire reading, learning, creativity, and play. Whether you’re leading on the frontline or supporting operations behind the scenes, your impact colours real lives.

About the Role

Become a Retail Store Manager—a leader dedicated to shaping exceptional customer experiences and driving store success. You’ll inspire, develop your team, handle operational excellence, and immerse shoppers in memorable experiences that spark joy, creativity, and connection.

Being a Brand Ambassador

At The Works, every role embody branding through daily actions:

  • Earn smiles that transform ordinary moments into lasting memories—whether it’s guiding a child to their first beloved toy or rekindling an adult’s love of storytelling.
  • Represent core values authentically: coherence in true belonging, service-driven actions, and inclusive behaviours.
  • Unified impact—from retail floors to supply chains—because every interaction builds trust, widen loyalty, and lifts us all.

Your Mission

As Store Manager, you’ll:

  • Lead and develop your team to deliver top-tier service and achieve business goals
  • Act as a living brand ambassador, setting an example for seamless customer engagement
  • Take ownership of store KPIs, using data to boost sales, productivity, and customer retention
  • Ensure flawless standards: stock visibility, visual merchandising, and safe, welcoming environments
  • Hire, train, and mentor, fostering a high-performing, engaged workforce
  • Manage daily operations—rotas, payroll, health & safety, and compliance
  • Drive team welfare by prioritising well-being, equality, and career growth conversations
  • Collaborate with central teams and regional peers to enact business strategies and share operational insights

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
