At Prospect Hospice, you'll have the freedom to make decisions that really matter. From merchandising and pricing to leading your team and building relationships in the local community, you'll have genuine autonomy to shape a successful store – all with the support of an experienced retail team behind you.
We're looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Retail Store Manager to launch and lead our brand-new Watchfield store. You'll create a welcoming destination for customers, volunteers and supporters while generating vital income that helps local patients and families receive expert hospice care when they need it most.
Hours: 30 - 37.5 hours per week (4 or 5 days from 7, Monday–Sunday, including weekends and Bank Holidays)
What is the role?
You'll be responsible for the overall success of the shop, ensuring it delivers an excellent customer experience while achieving ambitious income targets. Working closely with volunteers, supporters and the wider retail team, you'll:

- Lead the day-to-day operation of the store
- Drive sales, profitability and Gift Aid income
- Recruit, develop and support volunteers and your Assistant Store Manager
- Create an attractive, well-merchandised shopping environment
- Manage stock, cash handling and store compliance
- Build strong relationships within the local community to encourage donations and support
Who we’re looking for
You'll be a confident retail manager or assistant manager who enjoys working with people and delivering results. You don't need charity retail experience. If you've successfully led a retail team and enjoy delivering great customer service, we'll give you the support you need to succeed.
We're particularly interested in someone who:
- Has proven experience in a retail supervisory role in either commercial or charity retail
- Strong leadership skills with a positive, people-focused approach
- Can motivate and develop a team
- Is commercially aware and customer focused
- Enjoys building relationships and engaging with the community
- Is organised, proactive and able to manage competing priorities
- Holds a full UK driving licence and is willing to support other shops

This is an active role involving regular lifting and moving of stock and extended periods on your feet. Manual handling training will be provided.
