Retailer Performance Manager

Global Retailer Performance Manager

The custodian of retailer composite data at McLaren, this role drives performance across the global network through data governance, insight-driven strategy, and targeted intervention—ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with commercial goals.

Curiously mapped against industry benchmarks, this role sits at the intersection of analytics, dealer engagement, and commercial execution, delivering measurable improvements in financial, operational, and customer metrics.


About the Role

The Global Retailer Performance Manager is responsible for:

  • Stewarding retailer data integrity—ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant submissions across the global McLaren network.
  • Identifying performance trends, risks, and opportunities—leverage insights to refine strategies, interventions, and incentive structures tailored to dealers’ priorities.
  • Translating data into action—develop and deploy turnaround plans and high-potential growth strategies, collaborating closely with regional teams.
  • Acting as the bridge between data and execution—driving ongoing performance improvements that sustain momentum and align with McLaren’s commercial objectives.

A results-driven role with a focus on preventative strategy, the successful candidate will ensure no dealer is left underperforming—balancing constructive critique with uplifting owners toward success.


Responsibilities

Data Discipline & Compliance

  • Engage retailer networks to ensure 100% data accuracy, completeness, and punctuality in composite submissions.
  • Root-cause underreporting or discrepancies, enforcing compliance governance while mitigating administrative friction.

Performance Monitoring & Analytics

  • Monitor key contractor metrics (financial, operational, customer-centric) using predictive and prescriptive tools.
  • Uncover trends (volumes, margins, customer satisfaction index, demonstration inventory ratios) and correlate them to dealer behaviors, market conditions, or training gaps.
  • Benchmark against industry standards—spotting anomalies that justify intervention before they escalate.

Action & Implementation

  • Design and implement targeted performance uplift initiatives for underperforming retailers, working hands-on with regions to deploy and track outcomes.
  • Apply custom turnaround playbooks, tailored to individual challenges (whether staffing dilemmas, off-standard processes, or pricing misalignments).

Continuous Improvement

  • Establish a feedback loop: take lessons from insights, refine data models, and distil actionable practices for sales at all levels.
  • Cultivate a culture of performance ownership—ensuring retailers are empowered by data, not burdened by it.

Dealer Incentive Development

  • Partner with finance and regional teams to design bonus or incentive programs aligned with quality metrics (e.g., staff performance, footprint standards, CSI) – not just KPIs.
  • Ensure incentives drive balanced performance improvements, reinforcing behaviours that reflect McLaren’s values.

Reporting & Communication

  • Prepare real-time dashboards and executive reports for directors, flagging red zones with proactive recovery plans.
  • Present findings persuasively—turning nuanced data into actionable, business-relevant narratives.

Training & Development

  • Gap analysis: Identify dealer competency issues in sales execution or operational process maturity.
  • Collaborate with McLaren’s training teams to curate skill uplifts, from coaching for performance growth to mentoring remedies for behavioural challenges.
  • Leverage amari debuts (or openings) of new facilities alongside coaching to align metrics with the latest Charlesworth standards.

Requirements

Expertise & Competency

  • Analytical Acumen

    • Expertise in corporate data governance—interpret complex financials (KPIs, variance analysis) and operational metrics (inventory turns, sales process gaps) with ease.
    • Recognise quine or vector analysis via the data model’s underlying patterns—spots declines in marketing effectiveness, spilled inventory, or conversion anomalies.
  • Retailer-Facing Leadership

    • First-hand experience in dealership operations—understanding nuances of aftersales, staff incentives, and day-to-day challenges.
    • Luxury segment alignment: A thinker capable of measuring and improving franchise standards for McLaren/Charlesworth propriety retailers against Volkswagen Group benchmarks.
  • Commercial Intelligence

    • Voters for What-If scenarios in pricing or showroom productivity—clear on how inventory allocation, demo car availability, or CPO programs impact profit.
    • Connected to automotive verticals that fine-tune experience metrics to differentiate (customer retention, advisor training, service uplift).
