Retailer Specification Technologist

The MMM begins with you: Join a team that brings together tradition and innovation – and let your passion for food lead the way.

Your Tasks Include

  • Completion of accurate, high-quality finished product specifications and artwork.
  • Ensure that products and documentation comply with food safety, legality, quality and authenticity requirements.
  • Co-ordination of the information for the creation of new product specifications and product labels from across the Moguntia sites and manufacturing partners.
  • Develop and maintain precise product specifications with a "right first-time approach" in compliance with regulatory, customer and internal quality standards.
  • Support the new product development process, ensuring accurate sample specifications at the time of sample submission and by being a formal checkpoint within the product artwork, labels and SRP approval process.
  • Comply with the internal change control procedures to ensure that any amendments are approved by the appropriate stakeholders and are clearly communicated to the necessary colleagues within Moguntia and, where appropriate, the customer.
  • Support prompt responses to customer enquiries by co-ordinating the gathering of information from the development, raw material and site technical teams, ensuring the response and documentation are provided in a professional and informative manner.
  • Support the raw material and site technical teams by ensuring completion of documentation for the certification of products, including but not limited to Halal, Kosher and Organic.
  • Ensure updates to customer policies and EU/UK legislation are clearly communicated to the department leads to enable thorough assessment of the impact of changes within the Moguntia product portfolio and ways of working.
  • Continually review and contribute to the internal processes to ensure that the specification build and verification system is efficient, effective and compliant with customer and legislative requirements.
  • Maintain records, including development systems.
  • Support the wider Group Specifications team, when required, with the creation and maintenance of specifications and labels across the Moguntia product portfolio.

  • Degree level education in a related food science discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in food product specification creation and maintenance.
  • Experience of working directly with UK major retailers and their specification portals.
  • Good understanding of food safety and HACCP principles.
  • Trained in EU or UK food labelling legislation.
  • An understanding of the principles of production processes, raw materials, allergens and finished products.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Logical approach to problem solving.
  • Persistence and the ability to influence others.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Ability to prioritise and work effectively in a fast-paced role and environment.
  • Motivated and willing to take on new challenges, with a "can do" attitude and a solution-focused approach.
