[Retrieval Care Assistant – Launceston, Cornwall]

Bristol Ambulance (Part of Emed Group) have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Retrieval Care Assistant to join their team, based in Launceston, Cornwall.

About the Role

As a Retrieval Care Assistant, you’ll support the retrieval and safe transport of patients, ensuring their comfort and wellbeing throughout the journey. You’ll work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, collaborating closely with skilled clinicians to deliver outstanding patient care.

This role operates on a flexible 4 on, 4 off shift pattern, providing genuine work-life balance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate and professional care to patients during retrieval and transport
  • Support clinicians in ensuring safe and effective patient transfers
  • Maintain clear communication with teams and relatives
  • Assist in loading and securing patients for transfer (may involve manual handling)
  • Ensure vehicles and specialist equipment meet operational standards
  • Operate within strict clinical protocols and safety guidelines

Selection Criteria

  • Must hold a valid C1 driving licence
  • Must possess a blue light qualification
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently
  • Good physical fitness required for patient mobility assistance
