About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic Finance department through a period of growth. Listed in The Times ‘Best Law Firms’ & Winner of 'Independant Law firm of the Year' 2026, Fladgate is a leading UK-based law firm focused across the Corporate, Dispute Resolution, Real Estate and Funds, Finance and Regulation practices. The firm has a turnover of approximately £100m with over 400 people, all operating from a single office based in Covent Garden, London.
Role Responsibilities
Reporting to the Revenue Manager, this role will work alongside four Revenue Controllers and a Revenue Supervisor.
- Responsible for a portfolio of partner practice groups, working to reduce “lock-up” through effective WIP management, timely processing of bills and liaising with clients to ensure prompt payment of invoices.
- Take ownership of client queries, ensuring they are resolved within firm SLA times.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships throughout the revenue cycle to ensure invoices are processed promptly and paid in line with agreed terms.
- Ensure all queries are resolved in a timely manner, without adverse impact on client relationships or cash flow.
- Monitor exposure across the assigned portfolio, ensuring risk is minimized and escalations are actioned in accordance with firm guidelines to continually improve lock-up days.
- Maintain an accurate client contacts database and up-to-date notes on the Aderant collections system, ensuring adherence to the collections policy.
- Manage special rates, maintain registers, produce account reconciliations and issue monthly statements of account.
- Manage a ledger of group clients.
- Work collaboratively across all practice groups, taking ownership of partner debt across multiple ledgers, including the transfer of time and client funds in line with firm policy.
- Prepare files for legal action on non-paying matters, ensuring all required steps are taken, including discussions with partners and the Revenue Manager, and completion of all necessary documentation.
- Provide flexible support at month-end and assist the wider Finance team when required.
- Contribute to future projects as the firm continues to develop and enhance its billing process.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- A proven track record in a revenue role, ideally within the legal sector or another professional services environment.
- Ability to build strong working relationships with partners and internal teams to maximize cash flow.
- A confident and professional telephone manner, with the ability to manage client relationships effectively, particularly where issues arise.
- Confidence dealing with individuals in positions of authority.
- A proactive, forward-thinking approach, with ownership of ledgers in line with collections policy guidelines.
- Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong numerical and analytical capability.
- High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Effective time management skills with the ability to multi-task.
- A calm, confident and resilient approach.
- A professional, positive and ‘can-do’ attitude.
- Previous experience with Aderant Expert (advantageous but not essential).
- Billing experience (desirable), particularly to support quarter-end and year-end processes.
- E-billing experience (preferred but not essential).
- Strong IT skills, including Excel and Word.
