Job Description
Location: Hybrid environment from any NECSWS offices across the UK if candidates live within 25 miles of an office. Home-based if further than 25 miles.
Experienced Revenues / Recovery Staff
Working within the Revenues & Benefits department, you will be involved in the telephony and processing of all Council Tax and Recovery changes, following procedures, working to KPIs with excellent accuracy.
Main Responsibilities
- Deal directly with customers via letter, email, and telephone to meet service contractual requirements, providing excellent customer service.
- Meet required standards or deadlines while performing duties with minimum support.
- Complete high levels of workload consistently in line with the Right Time Indicator, the Right Benefit Indicator, and Subsidy regulations.
- Coach and mentor junior staff/colleagues.
- Share best practice with colleagues and lead update sessions for the wider team.
- Keep own knowledge up-to-date through publications, briefing notes, bulletins, and external training sessions.
- Maintain a constructive and positive attitude, taking on additional duties as required and contributing ideas for improvements.
- Regularly exceed minimum contractual standards for productivity/accuracy.
Qualifications & Skills Required
- Proven problem-solving skills.
- Good customer service and communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Housing Benefits / Council Tax.
- Ability to deliver under pressure with a flexible approach to work.
- IT competent.
- Self-motivated.

Skill Development and Progression
Skills:
NEC SWS is committed to developing and expanding the skill and knowledge sets of all colleagues. The aim is to cross-skill in at least one additional service within the processing centre. For example, as a Revenues and Benefits Assessor, you may undertake additional training in Central Government services like the Blue Badge Improvement Service, Local Welfare Provision, Heavy Goods Vehicle Levy Scheme, or London Councils Appeals Service.
Progression:
NEC SWS actively seeks to progress colleagues internally. The vast majority of the current management team have progressed to their current roles from NEC.
Career progressions within the Revenue and Benefits processing department:
- Revenues and Benefits Officer
- Revenues and Benefits Senior
- Revenues and Benefits Service Manager
