About Us

Sepura develops Mission Critical TETRA/LTE radios (sub 6GHz)/Cellular/BT/WiFi/GNSS/NFC.

We create designs from market requirements to customer delivery in Cambridge, UK, and manufacture in Europe, delivering the right solutions to our worldwide customers. They include police, fire, and ambulance services across the world as well as critical mining and industrial customers.

We are global leaders in the design, development, and supply of innovative communications solutions in multiple market segments, including emergency services. We are immersed in the transition from TETRA to LTE ESN services and developing challenging/complex radios (vehicle-based and handheld devices with a vast array of support accessories) to support our customers.

Role

We are seeking an RF Engineer to play a pivotal role in developing innovative products, leveraging their experience in RF systems/electronics development. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in RF product development, enjoy problem-solving, and be an excellent communicator.

Responsibilities

  • Component evaluation, and sourcing
  • Support on design (down to discrete component level)
  • Integration with Digital, Audio, and MMI subsystems
  • Circuit simulation
  • Test definition and documentation
  • Validation of designs
  • Root cause analysis of failures with updates to design to resolve faults
  • Schematic creation and PCB layout supervision

This role may require some travel, so the successful candidate will need a full, clean driving license, their own car, and be able to travel overseas. Travel expenses will be covered.

Qualifications

Behaviour

As an RF Engineer, you will be expected to be able to verify designs, identify product issues, and resolve complex engineering challenges with proactive presentation of solutions. In addition, you will be involved in component selection and designs with support from senior engineers as required.

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field

Experience and Technical Skills

  • Understanding of RF systems and technologies, including design, simulation, and testing
  • Proven hands-on design experience with practical engineering intuition
  • Good problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • Radio product development/integration up to 6GHz, ideally within the telecommunications or critical communications industry
  • Excellent time management and communication skills, with a history of delivering projects/tasks on time and with high quality

Core RF Expertise

  • You will have product validation and design experience in at least 2 of the following areas:
    • RF Tx/Rx architectures
    • RF receivers & transmitters
    • RF power amplifiers
    • Frequency generation (VCO)
    • Matching networks
    • EMC/EMI

Tools & Engineering Methods

  • Component selection and evaluation skills
  • Experience using RF simulation and modelling tools such as ADS, CST, or equivalent
  • Familiarity with RF testing equipment, procedures, protocols, and facilities (e.g., anechoic chambers, screening rooms)

Technology Experience

  • You should have hands-on experience in at least one of the following technologies:
    • TETRA/PMR - 100-900 MHz
    • LTE/4G/5G - Sub 6GHz
    • GSM - 800/900/1800 MHz

Collaboration & Delivery Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams
  • Ability to manage multiple activities concurrently and organise support where needed
  • Strong practical skills with PCBs, including component-level rework and modifications

Nice to Have

  • Experience with
    • GNSS - 1.0-1.6 GHz
    • WiFi - 2.4-6GHz
    • NFC
    • Discrete design experience
    • Knowledge of MIMO/5G including validation testing
