About The Role
This role operates within BT/EE's Mobile Network Planning and Optimisation function, with responsibility for driving radio network performance, customer experience, and coverage improvements across a defined geographical area. The role works closely with regional planning, optimisation, operations, engineering, and managed service partners to ensure the mobile network delivers against customer and business expectations.
Impact of the role
The role contributes directly to improving customer experience by analysing network performance, identifying areas of opportunity, and delivering targeted optimisation and investment plans. Through detailed analysis of network, customer, and benchmarking data, the role drives continuous improvements in coverage, capacity, and service quality. It also supports business decision-making through the production of evidence-based recommendations, business cases, and performance insights, helping to maximise the value of network investments and deliver operational efficiencies.
What You’ll Be Doing
The role purpose is to drive improvement in Radio Coverage & Performance through effective performance management and localized network optimisation. Main accountabilities for the role include:
- Perform detailed analysis of network performance and customer experience in a given geographical area.
- Produce and implement detailed improvement plans to deliver continuous network improvement using existing radio network capability.
- Perform detailed analysis of public benchmark (Umlaut and root metric) failures and implement improvement plans to reduce risk of future failures.
- Identify and prioritise investment requirements to drive better customer experience, build effective business cases to justify investment.
- Monitor network performance including failure cause breakdowns and investigate trends. Identify common trends across the network.
- Support development of less experienced members of the team and share knowledge openly and clearly to improve overall team skills.
- Work with operations and managed service provider to ensure operational faults impacting performance are being progressed effectively.
- Produce evidence packs to support decision making where required to get issues resolved and secure investment where required.
- Use advanced data analytics skills to drive improved ways of working.
- Support regional manager as required to complete priority tasks.

Essential Skills / Experience
- Advanced Mobile Network RAN optimization/planning and/or RAN Performance knowledge in LTE and 5G.
- Ability at making decisions in ambiguous situations using incomplete information.
- Produce clear and effective communication both written and verbal to justify actions and drive business decisions.
- Experience of Huawei/Ericsson/Nokia Performance counters and parameters.
- Knowledge of crowd data sources and how they can be used to improve understanding of radio propagation and customer hot spots.
- Drive survey analysis including layer 3 message drill down and diagnostics.
Desirable Skills / Experience
- Data Analytics and the ability to process and investigate large datasets.
- Experience of using Atoll or similar Network planning tools.
- The use of and interpretation of network performance KPI’s.
