Job Description: Rig Surveyor – Electrical

Due to continued growth we are seeking staff Rig Surveyors – Electrical assigned to our Aberdeen office covering predominately Europe & Africa, however other global locations may be required in line with several global contracts that are in place with clients.

In The Role Of Rig Surveyor – Electrical You Will

  • Join multi-discipline teams to support rig intake projects for clients globally.
  • Providing assurance and verification of all electrical associated with drilling, marine and well control systems.
  • Review statutory certification, maintenance management system data and conducting physical visual or intrusive inspection of equipment.
  • Develop detailed daily reports, final reports and populate databases with key findings.
  • Regularly attend vessel and rigs based onshore and offshore.

  • Experience with a vessel owner or drilling contractor as part of the core maintenance crew covering electrical equipment including high voltage within drilling equipment, marine systems, hydraulic systems, main machinery, hoisting / lifting, mud processing systems, and other vessel or rig equipment.
  • Experience as Senior Electrician, Chief Electrician or similar.
  • Advantageous to have been in a maintenance management role with a drilling contractor, including Maintenance Superintendent, Electrical Superintendent, Technical Superintendent, Technical Section Leader, Maintenance Supervisor or similar.
  • Be conversant with maintenance management systems, including condition-based monitoring.
  • Experience of safety, firefighting and lifesaving equipment and systems.
  • Experience working with main power generation and auxiliary engine room equipment.
  • Experience of electrical equipment installed hazardous areas with an up to date CompEX certificate or equivalent.
  • Experience of drilling control systems such as Amphion, Cyberbase, RigSense, etc.
  • Experience of SCR and VFD systems.
  • Experience of different drilling rig types, including design, generation, manufacturer.
  • Advantageous to have an up-to-date High Voltage training certificate.
  • Advantageous to have worked for an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) as a service engineer.
