Job Description

Rights Assistant (Children’s)

Are you a great organiser who is ready to work in a fast-paced environment? Are you interested in international book markets? What about children’s books? We are looking to recruit a Rights Assistant to join our world record-breaking team, on a permanent basis.

About the team

In Children’s, we publish a wide range of debut and award-winning authors and illustrators, including Stephen and Lucy Hawking, Femi Fadugba, Anthony Browne, Helen Oxenbury, Nathan Bryon and Dapo Adeola, as well global brands such as Bluey, Tom Fletcher, Spot and Peter Rabbit.

The role

As a member of the Children’s Rights team, you will provide support to a team managing a high volume of work and overseeing the production of a large number of translated books known as co-editions.

Key responsibilities:

  • Coordinating foreign language print deals, from price requests to supplying files, checking foreign language editions, tracking deadlines and resolving queries
  • Maintaining accurate system and database records of sales and deals in Biblio (a publishing system)
  • Preparing presentations and managing production and manuscript schedules
  • Handling requests for material from customers and supporting price requests
  • Managing the process for securing final materials/assets for Territory Managers
  • Organising travel, meetings and sales materials for book fairs and international sales trips
  • Ad-hoc duties to the support team when needed

What you’ll bring

You’ll be the first point of contact for incoming queries from our vast range of publishers around the globe, so you’ll need strong communication and customer service skills. You’ll manage and help deliver a mixture of file sales and physical books to our customers and navigate some trickier printings. You’ll also need to be good at creating spreadsheets and managing supply of early material, manuscripts, covers and keeping the sales team updated with the submission calendar.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
