As a 100% remote organization of 200+ professionals, we are 70% technical (developers, infrastructure, testing, analytics) with the remainder supporting risk, compliance, legal, operations, and more. Job Title: Risk Professional
Location: Remote (Global)
Responsibilities
1. Risk Management Tasks
- Run and maintain daily Value at Risk (VaR) and risk system operations to ensure accurate representation of all positions and strategies in the risk engine.
- Monitor intra-day exposures in real-time, tracking:
- Position size
- Margin requirements
- Concentration limits
- Identify and escalate potential breaches of firm risk limits promptly.
- Reconcile daily margin requirements against FCM statements and margin calls, optimizing margin usage and capital efficiency through what-if scenarios.
- Execute daily stress tests and scenario analyses.

2. Anomaly Detection & Technical Ownership
- Detect and investigate outliers, data issues, or spikes in VaR/metrics.
- Own resolution of technical/pricing problems in risk/margin systems.
- Escalate persistent systemic issues to senior stakeholders.
3. P&L Awareness
- Maintain a daily P&L-by-strategy overview to contextualize risk/exposures.
- Validate P&L attribution outputs from analysts against position changes and market moves.
- Flag discrepancies that may indicate data, pricing, or capture issues in the risk system.
4. Liquidity & Valuation Tasks
- Run daily liquidity reserve models to assess bid/ask costs for exiting positions.
- Apply liquidity reserves to realistic P&L valuations.
5. Reporting & Collaboration
- Prepare and disseminate clear daily risk reports for senior management, covering:
- VaR metrics
- Key exposures
- Margin utilization
- Limit statuses
- Conduct regulatory reviews with traders on risk positioning, actively:
- Flagging elevated risks or limit concerns
- Discussing stress test results
- Sharing margin optimization opportunities

Qualifications
- 3-5 years of direct experience in risk at a proprietary trading firm, hedge fund, or futures clearing organization.
- Technical expertise in:
- Value at Risk (VaR) methodologies
- SPAN margining (futures)
- FCM reconciliation and margin optimization tools
- Basis spread trading
- Practical knowledge of:
- Listed options Greeks
- Equity portfolio risk
- Firm grasp of P&L attribution as it relates to risk monitoring.
- Technical skills rated: Practical Excel—Preferred: Python/SQL.
- Degree in Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or related quantitative field.
- Preferred, not required:
- CFA or FRM designations
