Prestigious International Law Firm Seeks Risk and Compliance Counsel
A prestigious international law firm is seeking a Risk and Compliance Counsel to join their London office, offering you the opportunity to play a pivotal role in safeguarding the firm's reputation and ensuring ethical standards are upheld.
Job Responsibilities
- Analyse potential conflicts associated with new business intake and lateral hires to ensure all risks are accurately identified and mitigated according to professional conduct rules and firm policy.
- Consult regularly with internal stakeholders including the Office of General Counsel, Risk Management Committee, New Business & Conflicts leadership, and other departments to resolve complex issues.
- Ensure terms of engagement with clients comply fully with ethical requirements and internal policies by reviewing contracts and advising attorneys accordingly.
- Counsel firm attorneys regarding potential conflicts of interest and other ethical concerns, providing clear guidance on best practices.
- Draft waivers for conflict resolution and establish as well as maintain ethical walls to protect sensitive information.
- Develop and deliver training programmes for legal and non-legal staff members on rules of professional conduct, risk management, and compliance policies.
- Maintain awareness of major potential business conflict issues within the firm by staying informed about industry trends and legal developments impacting conflicts functions.
- Uphold strict confidentiality standards for all firm matters and client information while handling sensitive data.
- Participate actively in project teams within New Business & Conflicts and Office of General Counsel to assist with special initiatives aimed at improving processes.
- Take on additional responsibilities as requested by leadership, always modelling behaviour in line with client service standards and core values.

Role Requirements
- Undergraduate degree required along with admission to practice in England & Wales; proven legal qualifications are essential for this role.
- At least three years' experience in a law firm or corporate office of general counsel setting with extensive knowledge of conflict of interest policies preferred.
- Exceptional legal research abilities combined with strong analytical skills that enable you to assess complex situations thoroughly.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels within an organisation using excellent interpersonal skills.
- Experience counselling attorneys on ethical issues related to conflicts of interest or compliance matters is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in personal computer skills including MS Excel and Word; familiarity with Intapp products such as Conflicts, Intake, Terms, Walls is advantageous.
