Risk Business Partner – Third Party Risk Management

Role Description: Risk Business Partner – Third Party Risk Management

About the Role

The objective of the Second Line Risk team is to deliver, coordinate, and continuously develop an effective Risk Management Framework that enables FNZ to identify, assess, control, and monitor risk adhering to the business’s appetite, client expectations, and regulatory standards.

As the Risk Business Partner, you will leverage your experience in operational risk management frameworks, tools, and frameworks to support the Risk Management Framework within FNZ’s business plan and regulatory environment. Your role will include oversight of risk management policies, procedures, and their embedding across the organisation, ensuring compliance and fostering responsible risk governance.


Key Responsibilities

Third-Party Risk Oversight

  • Provide independent Second Line oversight of FNZ’s Third-Party Risk Management framework.
  • Review, challenge, and ensure adherence to:
    • Supplier risk assessments
    • Due diligence activities
    • Ongoing monitoring arrangements
  • Oversee critical, material, and outsourced service providers, assessing risks including:
    • Operational Risk
    • Information Security Risk
    • Cyber Risk
    • Data Privacy Risk
    • Financial Crime Risk
    • Conduct Risk
    • Business Continuity & Operational Resilience Risk
    • Concentration Risk
    • Geographic & Country Risk
  • Monitor supplier risk profiles and escalate emerging risks as necessary.
  • Challenge risk acceptances and remediation plans where control weaknesses are identified.
  • Support oversight of supplier incidents, service failures, and operational resilience events.

Governance & Reporting

  • Prepare risk reporting for management, Executive committees, and Board forums.
  • Represent Second Line Risk in relevant FNZ governance committees.
  • Provide management insights and key risk metrics relating to third-party risks.
  • Ensure material supplier risks, issues, and trends are communicated clearly to senior stakeholders.
  • Assist in regulatory submissions and responses involving outsourcing and supplier management.

Risk Framework & Assurance

  • Maintain and continuously improve Third-Party Risk Management policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Provide independent review and challenge of:
    • Supplier onboarding
    • Renewal processes
    • Exit procedures
  • Participate in thematic reviews, deep dives, and assurance activities across supplier populations.
  • Track and monitor remediation actions from audits, risk assessments, and regulatory reviews.
  • Facilitate risk/control assessments for third-party arrangements using Governance, Risk & Compliance (Archer) systems.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain relationships with:
    • Team and functional leadership
    • Procurement teams
    • Supplier managers
  • Act as a trusted adviser on third-party risk matters.
  • Support risk training and awareness programs.
  • Promote a culture of accountability and effective risk management.

Regulatory & Industry Developments

  • Monitor regulatory updates impacting outsourcing and third-party risk.
  • Offer guidance on emerging third-party risk trends, including:
    • Cyber threats
    • Concentration risk
    • Operational resilience expectations
  • Support implementation of regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Functional Area Collaboration

  • Collaborate with UK regional Risk & Compliance teams.
  • Work alongside the Head of Risk and UK CRO to ensure sustained team effectiveness.

Experience Required

Primary Requirements

  • Third-Party Risk Management experience (preferably in Second Line Risk, Operational Risk, Supplier Risk, or Enterprise Risk roles).
  • Oversight experience for critical and material third-party suppliers within a regulated financial services environment.
  • Thorough understanding of Third-Party Risk Management lifecycle, encompassing:
    • Due diligence
    • Risk assessments
    • Contractual risk considerations
    • Performance monitoring
    • Issue management
    • Exit planning
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to challenge constructively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in a senior-stakeholder context.
  • Organised leadership with attention to detail.
  • Apart from analytical acumen, key strengths include:
    • Solution-oriented pragmatism
    • Balancing commercial objectives with risk management
