About the Role

The Enterprise Risk Management team requires a Risk Capital Modelling Director with experience in Bermuda Regulation to support analytics across consolidating entities within Everest Group (Group, US, and Bermuda). The role is primarily part of the Financial Risk team and will involve collaboration with various stakeholders across the group. Locations for this role include Bermuda, New York City, London, Dublin, or Warren, NJ.

Responsibilities (Including, but Not Limited To)

Regulatory Capital Reviews

  • Reviews of Regulatory Capital Calculations
    • Conduct reviews of BSCR (Best Estimate Solvency Capital Requirement) calculations for Group and US entities to support effective challenge of the first line.
    • Maintain and enhance BSCR calculation tools (Excel, actuarial software) for improved accuracy and efficiency.
    • Implement BMA (Bermuda Monetary Authority) rules and guidance in processes and modelling solutions.
    • Analyze and consider changes in regulatory capital and BSCR ratios over time, including risk influences such as underwriting, reserving, market, credit, and operational risks.

Capital & Risk Insights

  • Deliver comprehensive analysis and insights on capital adequacy to shape business planning, determine risk appetite, and facilitate strategic decision-making.
  • Conduct (or support) capital impact assessments across multiple scenarios and stress tests, focusing on:
    • New products
    • Business lines
    • Reinsurance structures
  • Explore capital optimization strategies, including:
    • Refining reinsurance strategies
    • Legal entity structures
    • Intra-group transactions
  • Collaborate with Risk Management, Finance, Actuarial, and Investments teams to ensure alignment between:
    • Regulatory capital
    • Economic capital
    • ORSA (Own Risk and Solvency Assessment) and ERM (Enterprise Risk Management)
    • Risk appetite and stress testing activities
  • Effectively communicate complex regulatory capital concepts to non-actuarial stakeholders, such as senior management, in a clear and concise manner.
  • Facilitate training and knowledge transfer within actuarial and risk teams regarding:
    • BMA capital requirements
    • Associated regulatory capital topics

Governance Controls & Documentation

  • Design and maintain robust controls around the end-to-end BSCR process, ensuring:
    • Data validation
    • Peer review
    • Procedures for sign-off
  • Develop and maintain clear documentation including:
    • Assumptions, methods, and limitations
    • Process maps for capital measurement processes
    • User guides for capital calculation tools
    • Governance frameworks
    • Control checklists
  • Contribute to internal and external audits related to regulatory capital and actuarial processes.
  • Develop and refine actuarial methodologies, including:
    • Stress and scenario testing
    • Aggregation of risks (correlation and matrix structures)
    • Parametrization of general insurance risks (e.g., underwriting, market, credit, CAT (Catastrophecovering natural and man-made events), Climate, Cyber, and Mortgage)
  • Ensure actuarial models and tools comply with internal governance standards such as:
    • Documentation requirements
    • Version control
    • Validation protocols

Qualifications & Experience

Preferred qualifications include:

  • A Near-qualified or fully qualified actuary (e.g., FIA, FSA, FCIA, FCAS, FIAA, AIA, ASA, ACIA, ACAS, AIAA, or equivalent).
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • 10+ years of actuarial experience in P&C (_property & casualty) reinsurance.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Bermuda regulatory capital calculations, particularly BSCR, is strongly preferred.

  • Familiarity with other regulatory regimes (e.g., Solvency II, US RBC, ICS).
  • Ability to compare regulatory frameworks across jurisdictions.
  • Experience with ORSA or similar enterprise risk management frameworks.
  • Experience interacting with regulators, auditors, or rating agencies.

  • Base salary range: Typically $116,000 - $150,000 annually
