About The Role

The RESH Director is responsible for managing and auditing all Risk, Environment, Safety and Health (RESH) standards for the manufacturing businesses in the Consumer Tissue Business Unit (BU) globally.

This position oversees international compliance programs and coordinates with site’s RESH Teams to ensure all RESH goals are met and to improve our culture and leadership in RESH. It’s also driving and supporting strategy implementation in the Environmental area, collaborating closely with the Environmental Directors of the Regions. This includes the authority to adjust strategy, targets and objectives and ways of working to ensure that risk, environment, safety and health are priorities within the business.

What You Will Do

  • Leads the I Care Journey for the Consumer Tissue BU and acts as RESH advisor to the Business Leadership Team, driving a strong and sustainable safety culture
  • Establishes RESH goals, objectives, and implementation plan with the Business Unit Lead Team
  • Develops and maintains RESH programs, policies, procedures, and training modules to ensure full compliance with legal standards and company expectations.
  • Ensures compliance with relevant RESH legislation across the business through an effective and sustainable integrated management system.
  • Works closely with global RESH counterparts to develop, maintain, and improve Health, Safety, environment and operational risks and standards.
  • Collaborates with BU leadership to align RESH activities with strategic priorities and ensure compliance is consistently reviewed and maintained
  • Assesses site performance through audits, inspections, performance monitoring, and external evaluations to identify risks, drive improvements, and support CAPEX needs related to risk reduction
  • Tracks leading and lagging indicators within Consumer Tissue BU and advises the leadership teams with the appropriate actions to meet the RESH targets
  • Participates in incident investigations, monitors, and follow ups of the Incident management process for assigned operations
  • Coordinates risk assessments, safety and environment audits, incident and accident investigations, safety and environment training, and record keeping
  • Initiates, performs, and documents job site inspections and audits with special emphasis on hazard recognition, environmental risk and unsafe behaviors
  • Supports the creation and delivery of training programs and subject specific initiatives that complement global, regional statutory trainings
  • Acts as a role model and accountable for performance & consequence management, coaching and education within their department.

  • University’s Degree relevant discipline or such as Health & Safety, Engineering or another related field
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Safety Management Specialist (CSMS) or NEBOSH or others are preferred
  • Minimum ten (10) years’ leadership experience in a manufacturing environment as a Risk, Health, Safety, Environment professional working within international complex- matrix organizations
  • Global experience with remote organizational leadership, stakeholder management, cultural influence, and legislative frameworks
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills and ability to influence all levels of the organization
  • Proven ability to drive change and foster strong engagement across teams
  • High level of professional and personal integrity, ethics, and role model
  • Availability to travel on a regular basis (more than 50%)

The position can be based at any major Essity site in Europe, preferably in Munich or Mannheim in Germany, or in Valls in Spain.
