The Role: Risk Manager (Project Controls Team)
We are seeking a Risk Manager to join our Project Controls Team based in our Manchester office within the Northwest region. This role will support high-profile infrastructure projects across energy, renewables, defence, rail, and utilities.
Key Responsibilities
As a Risk Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Identification, assessment, and prioritisation of threats and opportunities across projects
- Maintaining visibility of risk/opportunity triggers to manage cost profiling, risk budgets, and timely interventions
- Developing and assessing actionable mitigation strategies for risks and opportunities
- Monitoring overall risk exposure, aligning with budgets and timelines
- Delivering timely risk reports to ensure senior management awareness and action
- Understanding quantitative risk assessment (cost, schedule, and integrated) to inform project contingencies
- Working with risk assessment tools (Safran, @Risk, PRA) from basic to practitioner level
- Managing web-based systems (ARM, Xactium, Predict, Tableau, PowerBI) for risk evaluation and reporting

Requirements
Essential Skills & Experience
To excel in this role, you will need to demonstrate:
- Proven experience in integrated risk management for major projects, programmes, or blue-chip clients
- Ability to conduct risk and scenario analysis workshops
- Expertise in proactive risk mitigation and opportunity exploitation
- Basic-practitioner competence in quantitative risk analysis (e.g., @Risk, PRA), with training provided
- Strong understanding of Project Controls Methodology and risk-asset interactions
- Proven experience in energy, renewables, defence, rail, or utilities sectors preferred
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills
- Commitment to fostering innovation and continuous improvement

Preferred Qualifications
- IRM / APM risk certification (or active pursuit)
- Hands-on experience in structured risk mitigation frameworks across project lifecycles
