Role Summary: Risk Management Business Partner
The Risk Management Business Partner is accountable for end-to-end risk management, regulatory compliance, and internal audit for Finastra’s Universal Banking Business Unit.
Reporting to the Chief Risk and Compliance Officer (CRCO) (with a dotted line into the BU), the role acts as a strategic business partner to senior leaders, providing:
- Expert advice on risk and regulatory oversight
- Oversight of risk identification, assessment, and mitigation
- Effective engagement with regulators and external examiners
Role Context
Finastra is seeking an experienced Risk Management Business Partner to oversee Risk Management, Regulatory Compliance, and Internal Audit for the Universal Banking BU. This is a key leadership position within a fast-growing private equity-backed company.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a long-term, strategic risk management plan for Universal Banking.
- Identify, evaluate, and report BU risks, controls, and compliance progress to senior leadership, governance committees, and external stakeholders.
- Provide expert guidance on risk/regulatory compliance standards (COSO, NIST, ISO 27001/27002, COBIT, GLBA, SOX).
- Design compliance frameworks and key controls to align Finastra and the BU with legal/regulatory obligations.
- Advise senior management on risk tolerance and encourage a proactive risk-conscious culture.
- Monitor regulatory changes, conduct audits, and document findings for evidence-based action plans.
- Ensure proactive risk mitigation, working with owners to investigate root causes and drive remediation.

Key Stakeholders
- Internal: IT, Information Security, Enterprise Risk, Compliance, Audit
- Universal Banking BU: Senior leadership, product managers, and team leads
- External: Regulators (Fed, FDIC, OCC), clients, regulators, and examiners
Experience & Qualifications
Must-have experience
- Proven track record in Enterprise Risk Management, IT Governance, Information Security, audit, or regulatory compliance (financial services preferred).
- Experience in financial institutions, risk advisory firms, or financial regulators (e.g., oversight of asset management, lending, banking).
- Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks (COSO, NIST, ISO 27001/2, SOX, IVEM/GLBA for banks).
- Ability to operate in highly regulated environments with a holistic risk approach.
- Comfortable in a matrixed structure, collaborating with functional/leadership teams.
Skills & Capabilities
- Communication: Strong organizational, presentation, and stakeholder management skills to engage with leadership and regulators.
- Problem-solving: Adapt in dynamic environments, counter ambiguous risks, and drive best-practice solutions.
- Strategic thinking: Develop data-backed risk strategies aligned with business priorities.
- Relationship-building: Build trust with functional leaders to drive consistent risk management.

- Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, finance, or equivalent (advanced degree preferred).
